Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at Sibiudogsangelsrescue@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We’re thrilled that you’re considering giving one of our dogs a loving home. Here’s a step-by-step guide to our adoption process:

1. Submit an Application: Begin by completing our adoption application form. Once received, we will review your submission and contact you to discuss it further. Please feel free to ask any questions—your comfort and clarity are important to us.

2. Home Check: If your application is successful, we will request a video home check to ensure a safe and suitable environment for the dog.  We will follow up with a video call so we can get to know each other virtually. We may also ask for a reference from your regular veterinarian.

3. Reservation Fee: Upon passing the home check, and deciding that the dog you want to adopt is suitable for you and your family a £100 non-refundable reservation fee is required. This amount will be deducted from the total adoption fee once the transport date is confirmed and the adoption contract is sent to you for signing. It is very important for us to make sure the dog is suitable for the family and the family is the right one for the dog.

4. Final Adoption Fee: The total adoption fee is £ 575, which includes the reservation fee. The remaining balance of £ 475 is due when the adoption contract is signed and the transport date is confirmed.

5. What the Adoption Fee Covers: The adoption fee includes:

- Full vaccination scheme, internal and external deworming (twice)

-Rabies and kennel cough vaccines, BRUCELOSIS blood tests ELISA and SAT done as required by APHA (Animal and Plant Health Agency)

-Microchip Registration of the microchip under adopter name (once the dog arrives)  -Sterilisation (if age-appropriate)

- EU pet passport and health book

- Veterinary health check from our vet and the RECS vet authorised by Defra.

- TRACES-compliant transport to your home

All our dogs travel with proper documentation in accordance with TRACES and DEFRA import regulations.  If you're ready to begin your adoption journey, please complete the application form.

1. Photo ID: Please provide a photo of your ID that displays your name and the same address listed on your application.

2. Home video: We also require a video tour of your home, which should include:

   - The downstairs area and front door to demonstrate how you will secure the dog when opening the door for visitors.

   - The back garden, with particular attention to the fencing (showing height and any potential gaps) and the back gate, proving it can be securely locked.

3. Rental agreement: If you are renting, please send us a copy of your rental agreement showing that you are allowed to have a dog.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions at all—we’re happy to help!

Yes, every animal we rehome comes with a full rescue back up. We are providing Rescue Back Up ( RBU) for the lifetime of your dog.

What RBU Means for Adopters: A Lifetime Commitment: The rescue stands by its commitment to the animal's well-being, from adoption day until the animal's last day and are with you every step of the way with the adopter until the dog decompresses and settles in the new home

A Safety Net: If an adopter's circumstances change (family or health) or they find they can no longer provide care, the rescue will step in and provide support. Rehoming: The rescue will do their best to take the animal back, and actively try to find it a suitable new foster home. We offer lifetime support before, during and after the adoption process, ensuring you and your rescue angel is supported every step of the way, just reach out to one of our team if you need support! Additionally, our community of over 600 Sibiu Dogs Angels supporters is always here to assist - https://www.facebook.com/groups/569649210320343

All dogs come with a full health check, vaccinations, microchip transfer and a passport. All our dogs travel (using a 5 star transport team to the UK) with a passport in accordance with TRACES and DEFRA regulations.

Additional info on some of our special breeds dogs needing homes

The Romanian Mioritic, Raven, Charpatian, Caucasian and Bucovina Shepherd Dog origins come from near the Romanians Carpathian Mountains. These breeds are in general very impressive in size and character. They are loyal, reliable, independent, and fiercely protective, They are friendly and devoted to their family and in general very mistrusting of strangers until they learn to trust them.

They are in general large dogs and with any dog of this size and temperament, require daily exercise and basic obedience training. These breeds are lively and stubborn, but in spite of all their independence they are very sensitive, loving, caring creatures in their furry armour. Due to their size and the traits of these angels we are obliged to find adopters experienced with large dogs or specifically these breeds.

Below are some points to consider before you commit to adopting a dog:

1. Do you have the time and patience to train and socialise the dog. These type of dogs are mostly used for guarding shepherd animals and livestock, families and the property and therefore, they require a strong pack leader. Another dog in the family which is calm would help a lot in training the young " sibling".

2. These dogs have a long coat and do moult, requiring regular grooming.

3. We need to stress that these breeds and mixed breeds although as a puppy are very attractive, fluffy, cute looking dogs they can grow into very large and powerful dogs  These type of dogs needs space both indoor and outdoor to exercise.

4. These dogs are very loyal, reliable, independent, loving, and protective and devoted to their family, but can be very mistrusting of strangers. They are very intelligent, smart and disciplined breed which means they respond well to training.

We do not want to put anyone off in adopting these stunning, loving  intelligent breeds, but we want to make sure you have this information.

We would highly recommend that all potential adopters who are interested in rescuing a dog and adopting these breeds carry out some research prior to make sure they are a fit for the family. Please do reach out if you have any questions.
